It was awesome. Strong winds swayed the trees and other vegetation outside the house. Rain suddenly appeared and made them dance harder. A fine mist gathered, casting the noontime into an unnatural twilight. To top it off, other witnesses reported seeing a circular wall of wind, bringing with it rain.
Meteorological terms define it as a squall, a sudden increase in wind speed lasting at least three minutes. In its wake, it left a surprised population and blackouts all around the city. “It’s the first time I saw horizontal rain,” one witness said. “I had thought this only happened on TV.”
